The work I have been doing at our suppliers factory has involved testing a new piece of software and ensuring it has been setup correctly for our site. As usual with these sorts of things, we have a procedure to follow to test each part of the system. Occasionally we do find a problem when following the procedure. But most of the issues we find are when we go slightly off the procedure and try something different. One of my hosts made a comment about how he is continually impressed at the number of different ways we (control engineers) find to break things.
I felt I needed to point out that we are amatures by comparison to the control room operators. There are a lot more of them and they have a lot more time with the system. No matter how many issues we find, they will find more.Go Top
