Hosting Quick Meetings

Early in my career, I had a duty to occasionally host a daily meeting. I was always worried that I would make a mess of it, that the meeting would drag on, that we wouldn't get round to covering all the necessary items. It turned out that it wasn't a problem.

Someone remarked after my first meeting that it was a quick one. We were all finished and down in the canteen in lots of time before breakfast closed. As time went on, I repeated this feat several times and developed a reputation for leading quick meetings. I am not sure what it was I was doing differently, but something was working well.

But that was many years ago now. As I am sitting on the train to Glasgow, about to chair my first committee meeting, I am curious if I still have the ability.

I suppose I am about to find out.
