Direct Vs Fastest

Every time I leave my house heading for the hospital, I have to fight my instinct to turn right. If you could fly in a straight line, the yes, the hospital is directly right from my house and I am driving towards it. Unfortunately, that isn't the fastest way to get there.

I Am much better turning left and going the exact opposite direction of the hospital, at least initially, until I get to the motorway. Then I can drive quickly around the outside of the town, and head to the hospital.

I feel like this could be some sort of metaphor for many things in life. Taking the most direct route doesn't necessarily get you there the fastest. Unfortunately when you are heading to the hospital you are probably worried about something else, and not able to completely focus on planning.

When in a crisis, it is much easier to think directly than strategically.
