When Experiments Fail

I understand that the scientific method relies on experiments and particularly on making a prediction then testing it. However it is extremely disappointing when you think you know what is going on, then you make a test to prove it only to find the experiment fails and disproves what you thought.

I say the experiment fails, the experiment did exactly what it was meant to do. It was the hypothesis that failed. And even then, it is better to know that the idea was not right rather than running off thinking that the problem has been solved.

But still, the disappointment hurts all the same.
